David is a U of T engineering graduate, Professional Engineer, Passive House Certified Designer and contractor with over 15 years of experience in building restoration and new construction. Dave is deeply passionate about building design and the art and craft of building houses.

Dave is leads the technical design and construction of the Steep Hill project as well as client work at Ruhl Builds.

Lee Vosburgh, B. DEs

Lee is a lifelong creative with a passion for enduring design and creating spaces that offer ease and refinement. After earning a Bachelor of Design at OCADU, she went on to work in advertising and content creation with a focus in intentional style and living. Now, Lee applies her intuitive sense of style, quality and detail to work at Steep Hill and with Dave as a design consultant at Ruhl Builds.

What is
steep hill?

Steep Hill was originally built in the early 1900’s. Its unassuming architecture and immersive setting attracted our attention. So too did its desperate need for a total overhaul.

We have been working on renovations of increasing complexity over the past 10 years through our construction business Ruhl Builds. Through this work, we developed a taste for old homes, antique details and difficult projects. Steep Hill seemed like the perfect place to apply our skills and knowledge. In 2021, we moved to Steep Hill full time and began planning and design for the reconstruction project that is currently underway.

Here at Steep Hill Studio, we are exploring all facets of design, construction, gardening and lifestyle to help and inspire others to tackle their own “Steep Hill”.
